My very first year of playing fantasy football was three years ago, and I think it set unrealistic expectations for the next few years. WHY? BECAUSE I WON! I felt on top of the world! Everyone just said it was beginner’s luck. I was convinced they were wrong and I really was just THAT good. I love how and Fangirl for Football makes football feel exciting and fun, especially for girls.
Unfortunately, it’s been a slippery slope since then. My second year, I got second place. The third year, I got third place. So, going into this fourth year I really needed to win. I felt like I needed to prove It wasn’t just beginners luck.
Three Weeks, Three Losses, Five Injuries.
Well, this year I am having a ROUGH time. I started the season 0-3. THREE losses in a row. ☹ From starting the wrong players and to having five players injured. I might as well put myself in the IR spot because I was about to be out for the season too.
Luckily, I am not alone. Caleb Barnett’s Fantasy Football Ruined My Life describes how how playing and losing is like the five stages of grief.
I researched players, looked at the waiver wires, even tried to trade. But who wants injured players? Absolutely no one. I started doing math in my head, how many games can I lose and still be in the playoffs? I needed a game plan ASAP.
In Fantasy Football 101 by Stephanie Pedley, she explains how important it is to check for injuries and using the waiver wire. But I still felt like I was failing at BOTH.
Some Hope?
Luckily, I was able to make a trade, I had a few players that weren’t injured anymore. All I needed was ONE win to prove to myself I wasn’t failing miserably.
I WON!
Not only did I win, I also had the highest scoring team in the whole league.
I felt like my work really paid off and was able to feel accomplished and not just a girl. Just because you have a few losses does not discredit everything I know and have learned. So stay strong and hopefully get another win.😊
Target Audience
My target is for people who feel like they are struggling with fantasy and need some encouragement especially women. I used emotion and character along with all caps like Fantasy Football Ruined My Life. I decided I liked how Fangirl for Football used emoticons in their post giving more personality. I also added headings to my blog like Fantasy Football 101 to make the post easier to follow.
