Hello team! This is the start of something special; this is about me going from just liking to loving the sport of football. I have always been a fan of football, but I never understood it. I was there for the snacks, cute outfits, and energy. By the end of the fourth quarter, I always ended up thinking, “Okay is the game over yet?”
I hated the awkwardness of standing in a conversation about the game you just attended and knowing absolutely nothing about what happened besides maybe the score. You might respond, “Yeah that one dude had a cool catch.” Who is that though? You don’t know. I believe this is the difference between liking football and loving football.
How are you ever supposed to love something if you don’t care enough about it to learn? So here’s to me deciding to become a part of something deeper. Football creates community, whether it is NFL or college football, a sign of patriotism some might say. It gives people something to talk about, argue over, cheer for, and celebrate together.
In this blog I will be continuing my education of football. Each week I would like to go over something that I don’t fully understand yet or would like to learn more about. I want to go over positions, rules, fantasy football, rivalries. And of course, I want to get into the drama too. My husband almost cried when one of his favorite players got traded to another team. I just looked at it, like wow, that is exactly how I feel when one of my favorite Love Island couples gets dumped from the island. Instant heartbreak. If I can fall in love with a Love Island contestant over six weeks, I can definitely fall in love with some football players over eighteen weeks.

I want this to be a place where women can get more comfortable with football, but also somewhere anyone can join in the journey. I am excited to see how much I can learn throughout this 2026-2027 football season. Here’s to a great season where we learn the game, get involved in the conversation, pick your favorite players, yell at the TV a few times and hopefully win your fantasy football league. Maybe by the end of our journey, I will make the full jump from just liking football to loving it, and maybe you will too.
Let’s huddle up, buttercups!
